wacky cake and 12 minute icing

This recipe comes from my grandma who I miss dearly. She used to make it all the time and then taught me how to make it. This is the most moist chocolate cake I have ever baked or eaten. I hope everyone who makes this recipe enjoys it as much as I do. The recipe calls to bake this cake 30 minutes but in some instances I have had to go as high as 45 minutes. The icing that is used is very good but you have to beat it for 12 minutes. The original recipe makes a small square cake but I double the recipe and use a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.

Ingredients
- WACKY CAKE
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 12 MINUTE ICING
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1/2 cup crisco or lard
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1Sift together all the dry ingredients

Step 2Add the water oil and vinegar and mix thoroughly. This can be done with a spoon or mixer. If you use a mixer you will achieve a denser cake.

Step 3Bake in oven preheated to 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Times will vary with ovens and elevations. Bake until fork inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 4Icing: Cream together the butter, crisco and white sugar.

Step 5Add in the flour one tablespoon at a time until incorporated.

Step 6Add both the milk and vanilla mixing until incorporated. do this slowly or may splatter everywhere.

Step 7Once ingredients are incorporated continue to mix on high for 12 minutes.
