I clipped this recipe many years ago when my like was quite "wacky"! It is so simple (you don't need a mixing bowl), yet so delicious! You can frost it, or not. I usually sifted powdered sugar over the top. My kids loved it! It is perfect when you need to take something to a function at the last minute. No clean up!

3 Tbsp
unsweetened cocoa, stirred before measuring to remove lumps
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
5 Tbsp
oil or melted butter
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
cidar vinegar
1 c
water, warm
1 tsp
baking powder

How to Make Wacky Cake


  • 1In ungreased 8x8" pan combine well, flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. (Yes, right in the pan!)
  • 2Make three (3) holes in mixture; pour oil/melted butter into one, vanilla into another, and vinegar into third.
  • 3Add warm water and mix until well blended.
  • 4Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 35-40 minutes or till pick inserted in center comes out cleam.
  • 5Serve as is, frost, or sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar.
  • 6Enjoy!
