My husband does not like chocolate. I wanted a chocolate cake so I made this one that my grandma always made and he loved it. I love this cake with a basic chocolate icing on it.

Ingredients

2 c
sugar
3/4 c
cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp
baking soda

eggs
1/2 c
vegetable oil
1 c
boiling water
1 3/4 c
all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
1 c
milk
2 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Very Moist Chocolate Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  • 2Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat on medium speed of mixer 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin). Pour batter into prepared pans.
  • 3Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.
