very cherry cake
I believe this to be a recipe put together by Heloise, the newspaper columnist. One of the many, many recipes I am always cutting out of papers and magazines and never get around to making - until now. The cherries and nuts sounded too good to NOT make !

Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons almond extract
- 1 cup chopped marachino cherries
- 1-1/2 cup chopped nuts (i used pecans)
- 2 cups sour cream
How To Make very cherry cake

Step 1Cream together the 2 sticks of butter and the sugar. Add the beaten eggs and mix thoroughly.

Step 2Mix together the extracts and the sour cream. Add to the butter mixture.

Step 3Then add in the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix to blend. Stir in the chopped maraschino cherries and the nuts.

Step 4Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 325 degrees for about 1 to 1-1/2 hours.
