Makes about 3 cups
unsalted butter, softened
vanilla extract (clear vanilla extract for pure white frosting)
powdered sugar, sifted
How to Make Vanilla Buttercream Frosting
1Add shortening and butter into bowl. Cream together until well-blended. (You can use a stand mixer, hand mixer, or even mix it by hand if you have to).
3Whisk in meringue powder into powdered sugar. Add powdered sugar into the bowl, one cup at a time; beating on a low speed.
4If your frosting is too stiff, you can add more milk, one tablespoon at a time. If your frosting is too thin, just add a little more powdered sugar until you get your desired consistency.
