This was my "go to" recipe when I needed dessert and we were "poor as church mice!" newly wed and now retired with SS...guess we've come full circle! These recipes are coming in handy :)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 1/4 c
    all purpose flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 3/4 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

How to Make Two Egg Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350. Bake about 30 minutes or until tooth pick comes out clean.
  2. Cream shortenting (Crisco), sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Add ingredients ALTERNATLY with milk, mixing after each addition.
  3. Bake in prepared (greased and lightly floured) 8" round cake pans.
