twinkie cake

This recipe came from my mother who got it from a co-worker years ago. She only made it once that I remember, but I've made it many times. Kids love this treat! It's amazing how much these cake bars resemble the real thing!

Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk, 2% or whole
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 1 cup sugar or splenda
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
How To Make twinkie cake

Step 1Bake cake as directed. Cool and split cake in two layers.

Step 2Heat milk and flour until thick, stirring frequently. Let cool.

Step 3Beat butter and crisco until creamy. Add sugar or splenda and beat 4 minutes more. Add vanilla and beat an additional 4 minutes.

Step 4Add butter mixture to cooled milk and flour. Continue beating 4 minutes.

Step 5Spread filling between cake layers and refridgerate at least 2 hours. Cut cake into bars the size of twinkies.
