Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 5 - eggs, separated
- 1 1/2 cups sugar (divided)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup heavy cream, cold
How To Make tres leches cake

Step 1Place flour, baking powder,and salt in a large bowl. Set aside. In another bowl, beat 5 egg yolks and 1 cup sugar. Add vanilla and milk into yolk mixture and mix together.Fold into flour mixture.

Step 2In a separate bowl, beat egg whites and 1/4 cup sugar until mixture forms peaks. gently fold egg whites into the batter.

Step 3Pour batter into a 9" X 13" buttered pan and bake for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean

Step 4Allow cake to cook somewhat. Using a fork, poke holes throughout the top of the cake.

Step 5Combine evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk and 1/3 cup cream to create a milk syrup. Slowly pour 1 cup of the mixture over the cake to allow the cake to soak it up evenly. Use additional milk syrup as desired to adjust cake moisture or to add to plates when serving.

Step 6Cake topping: whip remaining heavy cream with 1/4 cup of sugar until firm. Spread evenly over cake. You can toast some coconut and sprinkle over the cake and add some fresh strawberries to finish cake.
