This is a favorite traditional Filipino torta recipe baked during holidays and special occasions. These little cakes are so good, it's difficult to have just one. The tins I use are traditional muffin tins used for this recipe, which can be purchased online. Cupcake muffin tins can also be used.

Ingredients
- 1 cup oil
- 1 1/2 cups + 1/3 cup granulated sugar, divided
- 8 large egg yolks
- 2 cups self-rising flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make torta

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream oil and granulated sugar.

Step 2Add eggs and beat until creamy.

Step 3Add flour alternately with milk. Then add vanilla extract.

Step 4Lightly grease the tins. If using traditional tins, fill them with batter. If using cupcake tins, line with muffin cups and fill with batter.

Step 5Bake for 15 - 20 minutes at 350 degrees.

Step 6Let the muffins cool completely and roll the tops in the remaining 1/3 cup of granulated sugar.
