I have no idea who Tom was/is. But he sure did have a good recipe for a Chocolate Cake. This recipe was adopted from my friend Roberta.

13 x9 or 2 9 inch cake pans
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup cocoa
- 1 1/2 to 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup hot coffee
- 1 cup oil (shortening will work also)
- 1 cup milk
- 2 - eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Step 1Sift dry ingredients together, then add other ingredients, stirring well.

Step 2Grease and lightly flour large rectangle cake pan or 2 round cake pans. Pour in batter (note: batter will be runny). Bake at 325* for 25-30 mins.
