this recipe came from my favorite mother-in-law, chocolate, heath, and buttermilk is a great combination. i have made these into bars but i like it best in the 11x7

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
1 stick butter
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 - egg
3 - toffee bars
1/2 cup nuts

How To Make toffee bar coffee cake

Step 1

Mix first 5 ingredients (and set aside 1 cup of mixture).

Step 2

Dissolve buttermilk with soda.
Step 3

Beat in egg.
Step 4

Combine mix, buttermilk and egg.
Step 5

Add mixture to greased 9 x13 pan or 11x7 floured cake pan
Step 6

Chop 3 toffee bars, add nuts, add to set mixture and sprinkle over top of mixture and bake 350 for 30-40 minutes.
