When I first starting making this cake I was making 2 a week. My son's girlfriend request this cake with peanut butter icing for every visit:) I will follow with the peanut butter icing recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

How To Make the moistest chocolate "katie" cake ever

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven 300 degrees, grease and flour 13x9 baking pan
  • Step 2
    mix all dry ingredients in one bowl
  • Step 3
    add eggs, buttermilk,vanilla, and oil to dry ingredients mix well about 2 minutes
  • Step 4
    add boiling water mix until smooth
  • Step 5
    pour into prepared cake pan and bake for 1 hour
  • Step 6
    I always check this cake with a toothpick, when comes it out clean it's done. I have found depending on the weather you may need to bake a little longer up to 10 minutes. just keep checking it. ENJOY.....
