When I first starting making this cake I was making 2 a week. My son's girlfriend request this cake with peanut butter icing for every visit:) I will follow with the peanut butter icing recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 large
    eggs
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 c
    oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    boiling water

How to Make The Moistest Chocolate "Katie" Cake Ever

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven 300 degrees, grease and flour 13x9 baking pan
  2. mix all dry ingredients in one bowl
  3. add eggs, buttermilk,vanilla, and oil to dry ingredients mix well about 2 minutes
  4. add boiling water mix until smooth
  5. pour into prepared cake pan and bake for 1 hour
  6. I always check this cake with a toothpick, when comes it out clean it's done. I have found depending on the weather you may need to bake a little longer up to 10 minutes. just keep checking it. ENJOY.....
