Use the finest Chocolate (NOT Dutch) you can find. The original recipe came from the back of a cocoa can years ago. ENJOY!!

Ingredients

  • 3 1/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/3 cups cocoa powder
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 5 - eggs
  • CHOCOLATE FROSTING
  • 2 1/3 cups powdered sugar (sugar free : 2 1/3 c splenda 4 tablespoons cornstarch, blend in blender) i use 1 c. + 2 tbsp slimtevia, 4 tbsp cornstarch, blend)
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup very hot water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make the greatest & easiest chocolate cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven 350. Grease and flour 9" (two) cake pans, tube pan. OR cup cake liners
  • Step 2
    Place all ingredients in mixing bowl and mix on high speed for 3 minutes, scraping down sides of bowl once; pour into prepared pans or fill cupcake liners to 3/4 full.
  • Step 3
    Bake 9" cakes for 55 minutes or until tester comes out clean. Bundt cake will take longer. Cupcakes 20-25 minutes.
  • Step 4
    FROSTING: Place all ingredients in small mixing bowl and beat for 3 minutes. Frost cooled cake/cupcakes
