I got this recipe off another website I use, tastykitchen.com.
I baked this cake, and it is the best chocolate sheet cake I have ever tasted.
It's great for large crowds.

Ingredients

for the cake
2 c
flour
2 c
sugar
1/4 tsp
salt
4 Tbsp
heaping spoons, cocoa
2 stick
butter
1 c
boiling water
1/2 c
buttermilk
2
eggs, beaten
1 tsp
baking soda
1 tsp
vanilla

FOR FROSTING

1/2 c
finely chopped pecans
1 3/4 stick
butter
4 Tbsp
heaping spoons, cocoa
6 Tbsp
milk
1 tsp
vanilla
1 lb
minus 1/2 cup, powdered sugar

How to Make The Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever

Step-by-Step

  • 1I use 18X13 pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2In bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt.
  • 3In saucepan, melt butter, Add cocoa and stir together.
  • 4Add boiling water, allow mixture to boil for 30 seconds, then turn off heat.
  • 5Pour over flour mixture, and stir lightly to cool.
  • 6In measuring cup, pour buttermilk and add beaten egg, baking soda and vanilla.
  • 7Stir buttermilk mixture into butter/chocolate mixture.
  • 8Pour into sheet cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
  • 9While cake is baking, make the icing.
  • 10Chop pecans finely.
  • 11Melt butter in saucepan, add cocoa, stir to combine, then turn off heat.
  • 12Add the milk, vanilla and powdered sugar. Stir together.
  • 13Add the pecans, stir together and pour over warm cake.
  • 14Cut into suqares, eat, and totally wig out over the fact that you've just made the best chocolate sheet cake. EVER.
