strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream icing
This is the best strawberry cake you will ever taste! It is my go-to birthday cake for my husband and my oldest son. I use a white cake mix because it is easy to use as the base of the recipe. The fresh strawberries and Jell-O make it even more yummy. The icing is just plain sinful. It is so good, you will want to eat it straight from the bowl.

Ingredients
- 1 box white cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup oil
- 3 ounces strawberry Jell-O
- 1 1/2 cups chopped strawberries
- 1 cup butter (room temperature)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
How To Make strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream icing

Step 1Use a mixer to mix cake mix, eggs, oil, Jell-O (powder), and 1 cup of chopped strawberries.

Step 2Pour into two greased and floured round cake pans OR a 9 x 13 oblong pan.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 - 40 minutes.

Step 4Make frosting while allowing the cake to cool.

Step 5For frosting: Mix 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until well blended.

Step 6Frost completely cooled cake, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until well chilled.
