This is the best strawberry cake you will ever taste! It is my go-to birthday cake for my husband and my oldest son. I use a white cake mix because it is easy to use as the base of the recipe. The fresh strawberries and Jell-O make it even more yummy. The icing is just plain sinful. It is so good, you will want to eat it straight from the bowl.

Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup oil
  • 3 ounces strawberry Jell-O
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped strawberries
  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

How To Make strawberry cake with strawberry buttercream icing

  • Step 1
    Use a mixer to mix cake mix, eggs, oil, Jell-O (powder), and 1 cup of chopped strawberries.
  • Step 2
    Pour into two greased and floured round cake pans OR a 9 x 13 oblong pan.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 - 40 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Make frosting while allowing the cake to cool.
  • Step 5
    For frosting: Mix 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until well blended.
  • Step 6
    Frost completely cooled cake, and refrigerate for at least 4 hours until well chilled.
