spicy apple bars
These bars are like a spice cake and an apple pie with a glaze. They are loaded with apples and spices and a 1/2 cup of strong coffee to boot. For-goodness-sakes there good!

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter flavored crisco, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 - egg, lightly beaten
- 1/2 cup strong hot coffee
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- - dash of cloves
- 2 cups diced apples
- 1/2 cup nuts
- FROSTING
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make spicy apple bars

Step 1In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and brown sugar together. Stir in egg and coffee.

Step 2In a seperate bowl, sift dry ingredients together. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture and mix well. Fold in apples and nuts.

Step 3Pour mixture into a greased 13x9 baking pan. Bake at 350 for 18-20 minutes.

Step 4Frosting- In a mixing bowl, combine butter, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla and blend well. Frost bars while still warm. Cut into bars and serve.
