This was a saved recipe card from a C&H powdered sugar box. It was in one of three recipe boxes my sister brought with her when she came to my wedding in February.

Ingredients

PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES.

1/2 c
butter or margerine
1 c
c&h golden brown sugar, firmly packed
2
eggs, unbeaten
1 3/4 c
sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
salt
1/8 tsp
cloves
1/2 tsp
nutmeg
1 tsp
cinnamon
3/4 c
buttermilk or sour milk
1 c
chopped, cooked prunes, well-drained

How to Make Spice-Prune Cakes

Step-by-Step

  • 11) Combine butter and sugar thoroughly. Stir together flour, baking soda, salt, and spices. Mix alternately with buttermilk, stirring smooth after each addition. Stir in chopped prunes.
  • 2Spoon into cupcake pans, filling each 2/3 full. Bake for 20 - 25 minutes or until cakes test done. Cool and frost. Makes 24 cupcakes.
