spice layer cake
This was my Grandma's delicious cake recipe , I liked it when she would frost it with her Raisin Nut Frosting.(link is below) http://www.justapinch.com/search/recipes/?k=raisin+frosting&m=Karla59 But spice cake is really good with a cream cheese frosting also.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup brown sugar ; firmly packed
- 2 - egg yolks , beaten
- 2 cups sifted cake flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1 cup sour milk
How To Make spice layer cake

Step 1Cream the shortening until light , add the sugar gradually and cream thoroughly.

Step 2Beat in the egg yolks.

Step 3Sift the dry ingredients together 3 times.

Step 4Alternately add small amounts of the dry mixture and the milk , beating until the batter is smooth after each addition .

Step 5Pour into two 8" pans and Bake @ 350° for 25 minutes.
