  • 1 pkg
    yellow cake mix
  • 1 pkg
    3.4oz instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 4 large
    eggs at room temperature
  • 3/4 c
    canola oil
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon extract
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 2 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1/3 c
    unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 c
    strong brewed tea, cooled

How to Make Southern Style Sweet Tea Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Grease and flour a 10 inch fluted tube pan,
  2. In a large bowl,combine cake mix, pudding mix,3/4 cup tea,eggs, oil,vanilla and lemon extract. Beat on low speed 30 seconds.Beat on medium speed 2 minutes.
  3. Stir in walnuts. Transfer to prepared pan. Bake 45-50 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Cool in pan 10 minutes until removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. In a small bowl mix confectioners sugar, butter and enough remaining tea for desired consistency . Pour glaze over cake ,allowing some to drip over side.
