Ingredients
- 3/4 cup melted shortening
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup molasses
- 2 - beaten eggs
- 2 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon each ground cloves and nutmeg
- 1 cup hot water
How To Make southern spicy gingerbread

Step 1combine shortening, sugar and molasses

Step 2add eggs and blend

Step 3mix in sifted dry ingredients alternately with hot water

Step 4pour into well greased 8 X 8 baking pan or in muffin tins

Step 5bake in preheated 375 degree oven 25 to 45 minutes
