This is Bettie Thompson Rathel's recipe that was handed out at her 80th surprise birthday party. A real keeper.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter, softened
  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 6
    eggs
  • 3 c
    sifted flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 8 oz
    sour cream
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp
    almond extract

How To Make

    Preheat oven at 300 degrees. Butter and flour tube pan. Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy, add eggs, one at a time. .

    Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add dry mixture alternatively with sour cream, vanilla and almond mixture, mixing thoroughly with butter and sugar mixture.

    Beat for two minutes by the clock after thoroughly mixed. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 300 degrees in greased and floured tube cake pan.
