During, and directly after high school, I worked in a grocery store that had an awesome bakery/deli department. When I quit working there, to leave for Army Basic Training, I asked Margie (the manager of the bakery)for the recipe because I loved it so much, and she was kind enough to give it to me.

butter (melted)
8 oz
sour cream
2 c
all purpose flour
2 large
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
vanilla extract
3 Tbsp
brown sugar
3/4 tsp
cinnamon, ground
1/2 c
pecans, in pieces

How to Make Sour Cream Coffee Cake


  • 1Combine sugar, melted butter, and eggs. Mix well.
  • 2Add sour cream, vanilla, flour, and baking powder. Hand mix, not beaten.
  • 3Mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and pecans, pouring half of it on the batter.
  • 4Add remaining batter and top with remaining sugar mixture.
  • 5Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes, or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
