I am a true chocoholic. I found this recipe while looking for something else; it caught my eye so I tried it out. I fell in love with the rich chocolaty cake.

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup cocoa, unsweetened
- 1/4 cup boiling water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5 - egg whites
- 2 cans chocolate frosting
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
How To Make sour cream choclate cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350. Grease & flour two 9 in round cake pans.

Step 2Combine cocoa powder &boiling water in a bowl & stir until chocolate is dissolved...about 30 seconds.

Step 3Combine sugar & butter in large bowl. Beat with electric mixer till light & fluffy...1-2 minutes. Add cocoa mixture & beat 1 min. longer.Beat in sour cream, vanilla & baking soda. Add flour & salt. Mix 1 minute more.

Step 4Beat egg whites in medium bowl till stiff peaks form...2-3 minutes. Gently fold into batter.

Step 5Spoon batter into prepared pans. Bake till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean...25-28 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Cut each cake into 2 even layers for total of 4 layers.Spread frosting between the layers & over top & sides of cooled cake.
