sour cream banana bars

This is my husbands favorite recipe--- for the frosting! So I usually double the frosting and he eats that on his toast!!!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups mashed banana
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoons milk

How To Make sour cream banana bars

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 375 & grease and flour jelly roll pan (15x10). Mix sugar, sour cream, butter and eggs in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 1 minute
  • Step 2
    Beat in bananas and vanilla on lo speed 30 seconds. Then beat in flour, salt, and baking soda on med. speed, scraping bowl occasionally for 1 minute. Stir in nuts and spread in pan
  • Step 3
    Bake until light brown, 20-25 minutes. Cool. Frost with Browned Butter frosting (see recipe below) and cut into bars
  • Step 4
    Browned butter frosting: Heat 1/4 c butter over medium heat until delicate brown; remove from heat and mix in 2 c. powdered sugar. Beat in 1 tsp vanilla and 3 tbsp. milk until smooth and of spreading consistency
