This is my husbands favorite recipe--- for the frosting! So I usually double the frosting and he eats that on his toast!!!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1/2 c
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 c
    mashed banana
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts
  • BROWNED BUTTER FROSTING INGREDIENTS

  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 2 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp
    milk

How to Make Sour Cream Banana Bars

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 375 & grease and flour jelly roll pan (15x10). Mix sugar, sour cream, butter and eggs in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 1 minute
  2. Beat in bananas and vanilla on lo speed 30 seconds. Then beat in flour, salt, and baking soda on med. speed, scraping bowl occasionally for 1 minute. Stir in nuts and spread in pan
  3. Bake until light brown, 20-25 minutes. Cool. Frost with Browned Butter frosting (see recipe below) and cut into bars
  4. Browned butter frosting: Heat 1/4 c butter over medium heat until delicate brown; remove from heat and mix in 2 c. powdered sugar. Beat in 1 tsp vanilla and 3 tbsp. milk until smooth and of spreading consistency
