This cake was first posted on the back of a cake mix. It was during the "Laugh In" heyday, where one of the popular sayings was sock it to me. My mother made this often and its still a favorite of my family today. So from 1974...

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sourcream
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • FILLING
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2-1 cup chopped nuts
  • GLAZE
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1-3 tablespoon milk as needed

How To Make sock it to me cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
  • Step 2
    Mix filling ingredients and set aside. Mix cake ingredients together till smooth. Pour 1/3 of the batter into a greased floured bundt pan, then sprinkle the cinnamon/sugar/nut filling over the cake. Then gently pour the remaining 2/3 of the cake batter over the cinnamon filling. Bake at 350* for 45-55 minutes. Let cook 20 minutes then turn out onto serving plate. Mix glaze ingredients and spoon over the cake.
