Another custard layer cake recipe you're gonna try. It's based on Crumbl's Dirty Soda Smart Cookie. The ingredients will be Dr. Pepper and cookie butter, and there are crumbled, chewy Chips Ahoy cookies inside each cake.

Ingredients
- 12 chewy Chips Ahoy cookies, crumbled
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 box German chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup chilled Dr. Pepper
- 3 tablespoons cookie butter
- FILLING
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup half and half
- 1/4 cup margarine
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 3/4 cup cold water
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 3 large egg yolks
- 1/2 cup chilled Dr. Pepper
- FROSTING
- 1 tube frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 can sweet condensed milk
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 4 tablespoons cookie butter
How To Make smart cookie custard layer cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2Line two 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper. Coat with cooking spray.

Step 3Add crumbled Chips Ahoy cookies and milk chocolate chips between the cake pans; mix well.

Step 4Whisk the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs, and Dr. Pepper in a large bowl for 3 minutes until combined.

Step 5Pour into prepared cake pans. Add cookie butter to both and swirl it with a fork.

Step 6Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely for 15 minutes and remove the parchment paper from each cake.

Step 7In a small saucepan, add heavy cream, half and half, margarine, brown sugar, and sea salt. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

Step 8In a small bowl, whisk water and corn starch until smooth. Then whisk in egg yolks and Dr. Pepper.

Step 9Pour into heavy cream mixture over medium heat and whisk until thickened for 5 minutes. Remove from heat.

Step 10In a medium bowl, combine whipped topping, sweet condensed milk, cream cheese, and cookie butter; mix well for 2 minutes until blended and smooth.

Step 11Place one layer of cake on the serving plate. Spread Dr. Pepper custard onto the cake.

Step 12Place a second cake on top. Spread the frosting on the sides and top of the cake.
