This cake is another one of my mom's favorite cakes to decorate and was quite popular at numerous wedding receptions. It is moist, doesn't crumb much, and the flavor is yummy. Add buttercream or chocolate frosting, and you're in heaven!

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup oleo margarine, softened (do not melt)
  • 2/3 cup milk (at least 2%, whole milk is best)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or almond flavoring
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 4 - egg whites

How To Make silver white cake

  • Step 1
    Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • Step 2
    Add oleo, 2/3 c. milk and flavoring. Beat for 2 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Add 1/3 c. milk and egg whites. Beat 2 minutes more.
  • Step 4
    Bake at 350 degrees in greased and floured 9x13 pan (or two/three rounds for layers).
  • Step 5
    Cake is done when toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Top will be a golden color.
