We grew up with my mother making this as far back as I can remember. It would be supper sometimes in the summer for us! YUM. This is truly the best short cake recipe for strawberry's I know of.

Ingredients For shortcake

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 /2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 3/4 c
    milk, 2%
  • 1/4 c
    butter or margarine
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1
    egg

How To Make shortcake

  • 1
    Put all dry ingredients together. Mix in marg. or butter and then and milk, egg and vanilla, mix until dough is fairly moist. Put in buttered 9 inch pie pan. Bake at 400 degree until lightly golden brown. About 25-30mins. Or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm with prepared strawberry's! Enjoy!!
