After I took this cake to work the first time I was always the one elected to bring birthday cake for parties. I use Glossy Cocoa Frosting on it (I will post that recipe next).

Ingredients

  • 2 c
    sifted flour
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • dash
    salt
  • 1 c
    butter or margerine
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1 tsp
    instant coffee
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2
    eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk

How to Make Sheath Cocoa Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix flour, cocoa, sugar, soda, cinnamon and salt together in large mixing bowl.
  2. Bring water and butter to a boil. Add instant coffee and vanilla to water.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix well.
  4. Add eggs and buttermilk and mix well.
  5. Bake in greased sheet cake pan at 350ยบ for 20-25 minutes. Done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  6. Frost in pan with Glossy Cocoa Icing (posting next).
