My 3 grand children & I wanted to make a cake for their mommy for her 31st birthday, Nov, 26th so we came up w/ her favorite flavors, which are cherry, chocolate, oreos and coca cola. Got all those ingredients and found a box of dark chocolate cake mix and voila....yum!

Ingredients

1 box dark chocolate cake mix, i used ducan hines
1 cup regular flavored coca cola
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice, from draining cherries from small jar
3 large eggs
1 can chocolate frosting, room temp
15 - crushed oreo cookies, also i halved 6 and stuck them in the cake randomly
9-12 - maraschino cherries, or more to your liking

How To Make shara's choco-cherry coke cake w/ crushed oreos

Step 1

Heat oven to 250. Lightly spray a 9" x 13" baking pan w/ cooking spray.

Step 2

In a large bowl, mix cake mix, cola, oil, cherry juice and eggs w/a mixer for about 2 minutes until combined well. Pour batter into pan and bake for 25 mins or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. You want this cake very moist so keep an eye on it!! I checked it at 20 mins but it did need the 25.
Step 3

Let cake cool. Microwave the frosting just until easily spreadable but not melted. Frost entire cake. Top cake w/ crushed Oreos. Place cherries randomly all over the top of cake and serve.
