This gives you fluffy & moist cake layers. I also like making 2 layers & splitting them in half to make a 4-layer cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix, any flavor
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 4 medium eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make semi homemade cake batter

  • Step 1
    Do not follow box directions. Mix all ingredients together & combine well then beat 2 min w/electric mixer. Bake approx 20 - 25 minutes or until tested done. Cool layers & use your favorite frosting. Bake about 10 minutes longer for a bundt cake. Basically follow the cooking time on the box.
  • Step 2
    Note: You can use three 8" cake pans or two 9" cake pans. I also make this in a bundt pan.
