This is a great cake to fill with fruit and or custard

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk

How To Make scratch shortcake

  • Step 1
    Mix dry ingredients together,cut in shortening,mix in milk will be a thick bisciut like dough
  • Step 2
    grease an 8" round cake pan pat dough in lightly
  • Step 3
    Bake in pre heated oven 15-20 mins at 450 till toothpick comes out clean. When cooled remove from pan cut top 1/3 off for lid,dust top with icing sugar & fill inside with fruit & cream.
