sausage cake (yep, sausage!!)

This is a Family recipe, my Mom, who is not with us anymore, made this cake every Christmas,and I make it for my family and friends now. When friends would ask my Mom for the recipe she would say " I'll make you one but I won"t give the recipe away. I'm going to share- I hope you like it! It does not have an icing.

Ingredients
- 1 pound ( good) pork sausage (raw)
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 teaspoons allspice, ground
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves ground
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 bottle 9(maraschino cherries ) drained
- 1/2 cup strong black coffee
- 2 1/2 cups s.r. flour
- 1 teaspoon soda- disolved in 1/2 c. sour milk
- 1 cup walnuts (chopped)

Step 1Take off you rings and mix all ingredients by hand, really mix well so you don't have lumps of sausage,bake at 350 for 1 hr. or til tooth pick comes out clean in center. Freezes great!! Oh bake in loaf Pans or 9 by 13 grease well!
