A favorite recipe from my brother Tom.

Ingredients

  • CRUST
  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/4 cup butter, cold
  • MARSHMALLOW LAYER
  • 5-6 cups marshmallows, mini or as many as you want
  • TOPPING
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup, light
  • PEANUT LAYER
  • 1-2 cup peanuts, salted and without skins
  • OPTIONAL CARAMEL LAYER
  • 1 cup melted caramel (optional) drizzled over top

How To Make salted nut bars

  • Step 1
    Mix the crust ingredients together until crumbly and pat into 9x13 pan. Bake 10-12 minutes at 350 degrees, until brown. Sprinkle marshmallows on the hot crust and return to the oven until marshmallows are puffy, check in 2 minutes and watch carefully. Remove from oven and place on cooling rack.
  • Step 2
    Melt the chocolate+ butterscotch chips with the 1/2 cup butter and syrup over medium heat. Cook until everything is well blended and pour over the marshmallows.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle salted nuts on top. Let cool. If you are using caramel drizzle it on and let cool.
