This is my family's favorite birthday cake AND the cake my grandson and I make when he comes to visit! It is so moist and delicious. It's even great without frosting!

Ingredients
- CAKE
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa (heaping)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 cup miracle whip (regular or light)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- CHOCOLATE BUTTER CREAM FROSTING
- 2 tablespoons cocoa (heaping)
- - water to make a paste
- 1 stick butter or margarine, softened
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1First mix dry ingredients in mixing bowl. Then add water, Miracle Whip, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour into greased 9x13 baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool before frosting.

Step 2For Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting, put cocoa in a coffee cup, add just enough water to make a paste. Add chocolate paste to softened creamed butter in mixing bowl and mix until smooth. Add powdered sugar a little at a time until you get the consistency you like. Don't forget to scrape the sides of the bowl with a spatula. Then add the vanilla. (If you just want the butter cream frosting, then leave out the cocoa and water mixture.)

Step 3If you like cream cheese frosting, you can substitute cream cheese for half of the butter. For a lighter calorie frosting, use light cream cheese! It's delicious!
