This is a family favourite and is often used for birthday cakes. It's rich and moist with a great flavour that stands by itself. Goes great with your favourite icing or glaze.

  • 2 1/2 c
  • 1 1/4 c
  • 1/3 c
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 3/4 c
    salad dressing (do not use mayonaise) - miracle whip or off brand
  • 1 c
    water, cold
  • 1 tsp

How to Make Salad Dressing Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 400F
  2. In a bowl mix together flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt.
  3. Stir in salad dressing, cold water, and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Pour into two (2) greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
  5. Bake for 35 - 40 mins.
