Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
  • 2 squares (2 ounces) shaved semi-sweet or german's chocolate

How To Make ruth's dotted swiss cake

  • Step 1
    Combine dry ingredients. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs, beating well after each egg.
  • Step 2
    Combine milk, vanilla and orange extract. Add alternately with the dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Blend well after each addition. Blend in shaved chocolate.
  • Step 3
    Put batter into 2- greased 8 inch or 9 inch layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool; frost with a chocolate cream cheese frosting.
