This is a recipe I came across about 10 years ago. I tweaked it some and it is a family favorite!

Ingredients For red velvet cake

  • 1 pkg
    german chocolate cake mix
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1 bottle
    red food coloring
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 3
    eggs
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
  • 8 oz
    cream cheese, softened
  • 1 stick
    margarine, softened
  • 1 box
    (8 oz) powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How To Make red velvet cake

  • 1
    Mix cake mix, sour cream, milk, oil, food coloring and eggs together on low for 1 minute. After 1 minute, scrape down sides and mix batter an additional 2 minutes. Divide batter between the two 9 inch pans. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.
