Ingredients

  • 21/4 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons red food coloring drops
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract/plus 1 teaspoon of distilled vineagar.
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • CREAM CHEESE FROSTING BELOW
  • 3(8) ounces package cream cheese(room temperature
  • 2 sticks unsalted butter(room temperature
  • 6 cups sifted confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup heavey or whipping cream

How To Make red velvet cake

  • Step 1
    For cake: Grease and flour two 9inch cake pan, Preheat oven to 350 degree F. In mixing bowl coombine flour,soda,salt, cocoa, set aside.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl, beat the sugar, oil togather until well blended, add eggs, one at a time, blending well between addition, until smooth.
  • Step 3
    Blend in food coloring, vanilla, and vinegar, scape bowl side with spatula. Alternate-blend in flour and buttermilk starting and ending with flour, using about a third of each at a time.
  • Step 4
    Make sure not to overbeat or don't use mixer on high this will toughen the cake, pour in prepared pan and bake 30 to 35 minutes.cool in pan for 5 minutes.then cool on wire rack.
  • Step 5
    Cream Cheese Frosting. In mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter togather in a medium bowl with mixer on high speed. Add the sifted confectioner sugar, then the vanilla ,beating until smooth, with mixer running, gradually add the cream and beat until the frosting looks whipped.
