I am in love with all things pumpkin. My friends and my husband love when I make this cake. It makes the house smell wonderful and it tastes just as good! I hope you come to love it as much as we have!

allspice, ground

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Cake


  • 1Preheat the oven to 350. Grease and flour a 12 X 18 in. pan - I prefer to use a bundt pan and I spray the inside of the pan with Baker's Joy.
  • 2In a medium size bowl, sift together: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and ginger. Set aside.
  • 3In a large bowl, combine sugar and oil.
  • 4Blend in vanilla, applesauce, and pumpkin until smooth.
  • 5Once blended, beat in each egg - one at a time. Gradually beat in your flour mixture.
  • 6Spread batter into the pan. Bake for 30 minutes(12x18pan) - 45/50 minutes (bundt pan) or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool. Cover with your favorite topping. (We like to use cinnamon and sugar to sprinkle over the top of the cake.)
  • 7Also makes 28 muffins - 3/4 full ~ bake for 18-20 minutes. You can substitute the pumpkin with 2 cups of unsweetened apple butter for an apple spice cake.
