prune cake
My mother, who married at the age of 15, created this recipe while still a young girl. Our family has loved and served this cake for over 75 years. I think it's best served warm!

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup crisco
- 3 - eggs
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon allspice, ground
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup seeded prunes
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup seeded prunes
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
How To Make prune cake

Step 1Cream together sugar and crisco. Blend in 3 eggs and 1/2 cup sour cream.

Step 2Sift flour with the spices, baking soda and 1/2 tsp salt. Add to creamed ingredients.

Step 3Beat in one cup seeded prunes.

Step 4Pour into two greased, floured 9" cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Organize frosting ingredients. As soon as cake is done, remove from oven to cool on racks. Begin frosting:

Step 5Combine eggs, sugar, sour cream, prunes and salt in large saucepan. Using electric beaters, beat ingredients over medium heat until thick and completely cooked. Immediately assemble and frost cake.
