I have been making this cake for more than 40 years and it is always a winner wherever I take it.

Ingredients For prune cake

1 tspcloves, cinnamon, allspice - each

2 cupsself rising flour

2 cupssugar

1 tspvanilla

3eggs
-
1 cupvegetable oil

1 cupbuttermilk

1 cuppitted prunes
How To Make prune cake

1Mix together sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla.

2add remaining ingredients

3If using plain flour, also use 1 teaspoon of soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt

4Cook in 9x14 pan. At 325 for 50 t 55 minute

5For the sauce use: 1 cup white sugar, 1 tsp soda, 1 tablespoon Karo white syrup and 1/2 cup buttermilk. Add one stick butter or margarine. Boil until forms stiff drop from spoon. Pour over cake while hot and still in the pan.
