I have been making this cake for more than 40 years and it is always a winner wherever I take it.

Ingredients

1 tsp
cloves, cinnamon, allspice - each
2 cups
self rising flour
2 cups
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
3
eggs
1 cup
vegetable oil
1 cup
buttermilk
1 cup
pitted prunes

How to Make Prune Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix together sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla.
  • 2add remaining ingredients
  • 3If using plain flour, also use 1 teaspoon of soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4Cook in 9x14 pan. At 325 for 50 t 55 minute
  • 5For the sauce use: 1 cup white sugar, 1 tsp soda, 1 tablespoon Karo white syrup and 1/2 cup buttermilk. Add one stick butter or margarine. Boil until forms stiff drop from spoon. Pour over cake while hot and still in the pan.
