I made this cake for my niece's birthday party. I never understood why it was called a "Princess Cake" until she saw it,because she said "hello I'm the princess!" LOL need I say more lol...

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 - eggs, separated
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

How To Make princess cake...

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 350F.
  • Step 2
    Sift together the first 4 ingredients into mixing bowl. Make a hole in the dry ingredients.Add the oil, egg yolks, water & vanilla. Beat until smooth on medium speed for about 1 min.
  • Step 3
    In another bowl mix the egg whites & cream of tartar. beat on high speed for 3 to 5 mins until stiff peaks & glossy.
  • Step 4
    Pour egg yolk mixture gradually over egg whites & gently fold to blend. make sure not to stir.
  • Step 5
    Pour immediately into non greased 10 inch pan & bake for 30 to 35 mins. Turn pan upside down over glass bottle to cool.
  • Step 6
    Loosen with knife, turn pan back over & hit edges sharply on table to loosen.
  • Step 7
    Then cut into 1 equal half. Spread some white or vanilla frosting on the first layer. Top with top layer and frost.
