I made this cake for my niece's birthday party. I never understood why it was called a "Princess Cake" until she saw it,because she said "hello I'm the princess!" LOL need I say more lol...

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    cake flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 4
    eggs, separated
  • 1/4 c
    cold water
  • 2 Tbsp
    cold water
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp
    cream of tartar

How to Make Princess Cake...

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 350F.
  2. Sift together the first 4 ingredients into mixing bowl. Make a hole in the dry ingredients.Add the oil, egg yolks, water & vanilla. Beat until smooth on medium speed for about 1 min.
  3. In another bowl mix the egg whites & cream of tartar. beat on high speed for 3 to 5 mins until stiff peaks & glossy.
  4. Pour egg yolk mixture gradually over egg whites & gently fold to blend. make sure not to stir.
  5. Pour immediately into non greased 10 inch pan & bake for 30 to 35 mins. Turn pan upside down over glass bottle to cool.
  6. Loosen with knife, turn pan back over & hit edges sharply on table to loosen.
  7. Then cut into 1 equal half. Spread some white or vanilla frosting on the first layer. Top with top layer and frost.
