Years ago a friend gave me this recipe in her own handwriting. It has truly stood the test of time. My entire family loves this cake! Thank you Crystal for sharing with us!

Ingredients For pound cake(lemon or plain)

  • 3 stick
    butter(land of lakes, salted) @ room temperature
  • 3 c
  • 6 lg
  • 3 1/2 c
    plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 c
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract(you can use 1 tsp and leave off the lemon if you prefer to have plain pound cake)
  • 1/2 tsp
    lemon extract

How To Make pound cake(lemon or plain)

    Pre-heat oven to 325 Grease a tube pan and line the bottom with wax paper.(Do not grease the top of the wax paper)

    Sift flour & baking powder together and set aside. Measure and mix milk with flavoring(s)

    Cream Butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add Flour mixture and milk mixture alternating. Mix batter well.

    Pour batter into the tube pan and bake for 1 1/2 hours or until golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out dry.

    Allow to cool for about 15 minutes then run a butter knife or long thin spatula between the cake pan and the cake. Remove cake from tube pan by inverting the entire pan with cake onto a big round plate. Remove the tube and wax paper from the bottom of the cake. Carefully place a cake plate onto the bottom of the cake and reverse the cake back up to rest on the cake plate.
