I received this recipe from a church friend. She had made this delicious cake for a shower and I loved it. I had to have the recipe and she graciously shared it with me. This is a tried and true recipe that has stood the test of time. It is great for any occasion. If I don't make one of these cakes every so often, my family will ask me to make one! The recipe can be doubled and the extra cake can be frozen to be used later. This cake is not too sweet so fresh, summer fruit is a perfect accompaniment, especially strawberries!

Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 3 - eggs
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 cup milk
- - pinch of salt
- 4 teaspoons vanilla
How To Make pound cake

Step 1Grease and flour a bundt pan.

Step 2In mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together.

Step 3Add the eggs and mix well.

Step 4In small bowl, mix the flour and baking powder together, add it to the butter, sugar, egg mixture, mixing well.

Step 5Stir in the milk.

Step 6Stir in salt.

Step 7Stir in the vanilla.

Step 8Pour into greased and floured bundt pan and bake for 1 hour at 325.

Step 9Note: you can change the flavor of this cake: You can make it lemon or orange by adding either lemon or orange zest and using lemon or orange juice in place of the vanilla.
