We love to cook outdoors as soon as it is warm enough. We have lots of fun with these pie irons and we try and cook anything and everything in them.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 cup white cake mix (leave dry)
  • 1/2 stick melted butter
  • 1/2 - 1 cups apple pie filling (or your favorite fruit filling)

How To Make pie iron apple desert

  • Step 1
Mix melted butter into dry cake mix, so it is still crumbly. Don't over mix. Add pie filling and mix in. Don't over mix. It is fine if it is lumpy.
  • Step 2
Heat your pie iron in the fire and then melt some butter in it on both sides. Fill one side of pie iron and close it. Put on the fire and let it cook for a couple of minutes. Check it and turn it over and continue cooking until it is done. We like it a little crisp on the outside. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
