pecan topped coffee cake

My Grandmother gave me this recipe many years ago.Sometimes I double the nut topping and sprinkle it in the batter to make a filling.Just pour half the batter in the pan,sprinkle the topping then pour the remaining batter on top. It's nice to make it the night before and bake it fresh the next morning.

- - 2/3 c butter or margarine,softened
- - 1 c sugar
- - 1/2 c brown sugar
- - 2 eggs
- - 1 t.vanilla
- - 2 c flour
- - 1 t. baking powder
- - 1 t. baking soda
- - 1/2 t. salt
- - 1 t. cinnamon
- - 1 c buttermilk
- - 1 c chopped pecans
- - 1/2 c brown sugar
- - 1/2 t. cinnamon

Step 1Cream butter ,gradually add 1 c sugar and 1/2 c brown sugar,beating well.Add eggs one at a time,beating after each addition.Stir in vanilla.Combine dry ingredients.Add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.Pour into greased 13x9 inch baking pan.Combine nuts,1/2 c brown sugar and 2 t. cinnamon.Mix well.Sprinkle over batter.Cover and chill 8-10 hours.Uncover and let come to rm temp.Bake 350 deg.for 35 mins.
