Ingredients

1 c
all purpose flour
1 c
plus 2 tablespoons sugar
3 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
2 c
graham crackers, crushed
3/4 c
peanut butter
1/2 c
shortening
1 c
plus 2 tablespoons milk
1 tsp
vanilla extract
3
eggs

FOR THE FROSTING:

2 c
confectioners' sugar
2 Tbsp
cocoa powder
8 Tbsp
water
1/3 c
heavy cream
1/2 c
peanuts, salted
2 tsp
vanilla extract

How to Make Peanut Butter Cake With Chocolate Frosting

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 375 if baking with metal dish, 325 if using a glass dish.
  • 2Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together. Add graham cracker crumbs, peanut butter, shortening, milk and vanilla.
  • 3Beat mixture with electric mixer on low until moistened and then heat on medium for 2 minutes.
  • 4Add eggs and beat 1 minute. Bake in greased 9x13 inch baking pan for 30-35 minutes. Do not remove from pan to cool.
  • 5For frosting, mix all ingredients together. Pour into a saucepan and bring mixture to a boil.
  • 6Boil for 1 minute. Cool slightly.
  • 7With a wooden spoon handle, poke a few holes in the cake and then pour the warm frosting over it.
