Peanut Butter Cake

Sheri Mullins

This was one my mom would make for my sister's birthday. It has a fudgy candy-like frosting on top.

How to Make Peanut Butter Cake

  1. Cream peanut butter, shortening and sugar.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
  3. Alternate sifted flour with baking powder and milk
  4. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. (I typically spray with Pam)
Bake at 350 degrees until done (start testing with toothpick at 25 min)
Cook milk and sugar to soft ball stage; add vanilla; add peanut butter; stir to spreading consistency. Beat until it starts to lose its gloss.
If too thick, add a little milk 1 T. at a time. If too thin, add peanut butter.
    Spread on cooled cake.
(this is a fudge type frosting and is as thick as the picture shows)
