peanut butter cake
This was one my mom would make for my sister's birthday. It has a fudgy candy-like frosting on top.

Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut butter, creamy
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour, sifted
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 3 - eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- FROSTING
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 18 ounces peanut butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make peanut butter cake
-
Step 1Cream peanut butter, shortening and sugar.
-
Step 2Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
-
Step 3Alternate sifted flour with baking powder and milk
-
Step 4Pour into greased 9x13 pan. (I typically spray with Pam) Bake at 350 degrees until done (start testing with toothpick at 25 min)
-
Step 5FROSTING: Cook milk and sugar to soft ball stage; add vanilla; add peanut butter; stir to spreading consistency. Beat until it starts to lose its gloss. If too thick, add a little milk 1 T. at a time. If too thin, add peanut butter. Spread on cooled cake. (this is a fudge type frosting and is as thick as the picture shows)
