I remember terrific peanut butter cakes from my childhood...and this one ranks right up there with them!

Ingredients

1 cpeanut butter, creamy
-
2 csugar
-
1 tspvanilla

2 call purpose flour, sifted

1/4 cshortening
-
3eggs
-
1 cmilk
-
1 Tbspbaking powder
-
FROSTING
-
2 csugar
-
1 cmilk
-
18 ozpeanut butter
-
1 tspvanilla
How to Make Peanut Butter Cake
- Cream peanut butter, shortening and sugar.
- Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
- Alternate sifted flour with baking powder and milk
- Pour into greased 9x13 pan. (I typically spray with Pam)
Bake at 350 degrees until done (start testing with toothpick at 25 min) - FROSTING:
Cook milk and sugar to soft ball stage; add vanilla; add peanut butter; stir to spreading consistency. Beat until it starts to lose its gloss.
If too thick, add a little milk 1 T. at a time. If too thin, add peanut butter.
Spread on cooled cake.
(this is a fudge type frosting and is as thick as the picture shows)
