This cake is very easy to make and the packaged cookies make it easy to dress up the frosted cake for a festive look. You can put a little or a lot. Make it your way. Kids love it. I made it for my Grandson's birthday. He said it was the very best Birthday cake I'd made ever.

Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 1 box white or yellow cake mix 18oz.
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 12 ounces milk
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 package oreo cookies
  • FROSTING
  • 1 large container cool whip topping
  • 1 stick butter, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

How To Make oreo cake

  • Step 1
    preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step 2
    grease and flour ( 2 ) 9 inch round or square cake pans. set aside.
  • Step 3
    put eggs and all liquid ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  • Step 4
    slowly stir until everything is combined.
  • Step 5
    add the dry cake ingredients and mix until well combined.
  • Step 6
    pour your batter into the prepared cake pans as evenly as possible.
  • Step 7
    bake in oven for approximately 28 minutes. until the layers begin to pull away from pan edges and a light touch in center springs back.
  • Step 8
    remove from oven to a cooling rack. let pans cool for 10 minutes.
  • Step 9
    Turn layers out of the pans and allow to completely cool.
  • Step 10
    break up half or more of the whole cookies to sprinkle between the layers and put around the outsides. cut in half however many you want for the top and set aside.
  • Step 11
    Melt and cool butter. Stir cooled butter and vanilla extract into thawed Cool Whip. Stir to combine well.
  • Step 12
    to assemble the cake.
  • Step 13
    place 1 layer onto a plate and spread Cool Whip Frosting over top.
  • Step 14
    sprinkle crushed cookies. add top layer.
  • Step 15
    frost top and sides with Cool Whip Frosting. Put crushed cookies around sides. Cut cookie halves on top.
